All our possessions are gifts of God, but also a potential source of ruin to the soul.
Have you ever seen a child crying in deep suffering because his toy has been taken away?
The reason why such acute suffering occurs is hidden in the word "My" As we grow up,
"My" toy later becomes "My" car, "My" house, "My" clothes and so on.
We try to find ourselves in things but never quite make it and end up losing ourselves in them.
"For the LOVE of money (Possessions) is a root of all kinds of evil."
( 1 Timothy 6:10)
Within the human heart "Things" have taken over. The pronouns "My" and "Mine"
are verbal symptoms of our deep disease. The roots of our hearts have grown down into
"Things" and we dare not pull up one rootlet lest we die.
The people in the advertising industry know very well that in order to sell things that
people don't really need, they must convince them that those things will add
something to how they see themselves, or seen by others, to add something to their sense of self.
The Cherokee Indians (Now called Tsalagi) teach:
The earth is asking that we take one another's hands
and we put aside the idea of "My" and "Yours."
And in the Tribe, change it to "Ours."
Envy poisons the group effort because
"I wish" becomes bigger than "we can."

The world knows how to get your heart. The world knows that if they get your heart,
then you will keep buying what they want to sell you! You will make it a Possession!
We need to know how the world can steal hearts. The biggest way is through our Children.
Have you ever noticed how the world puts a lot of emphasis on children?
Let's look at breakfast cereal; they have more in the box than just the cereal.
Why? Because when they give something to the
Child (Their heart, but in truth, it is not their heart, it is greed)
the child will keep wanting that same cereal. McDonalds does the same thing
with their "Happy Meals" to keep that child coming back.
McDonald's knows how to get the heart of a child.
Trying to find yourself through things doesn't work: Satan's ego satisfaction
is short-lived and so you keep looking for more, keep buying, keep consuming.
God's gift of possessions are now taking the place of God, and the
whole course of nature is upset by this monstrous substitution.
On the other hand, things are a necessary and inescapable part of our lives.
We need housing, clothes, furniture, tools, transportation.
 We need to honor God's gift of things, not despise them;
but we cannot really honor God's things if we use them as a means to
self-enhancement. The unchecked striving for more, for endless growth,
is a dysfunction and a disease. It is very much like cancer, whose only goal is
to multiply itself, unaware that it is bringing about its own
destruction by destroying the organism of which it is a part.
Reread the story of Abraham and Isaac. This was Abraham's trial by
fire and he did not fail. (Genesis 22:1-12) "It's alright Abraham. I never
intended that you should actually slay the lad, I only wanted to remove
him from the temple of your heart that I might reign unchallenged there (Genesis 22:16-18).
In the end, he had his Son, Wife, Friends he had everything,
but he "POSSESSED NOTHING." There is the Spiritual secret.
The sense of possession was gone from his heart.
They had now become external to the man.
And Jesus said to them,
"Take heed and beware of covetousness,
for one's life does not consist in the
abundance of things he possesses." (Luke 12:15)
Ask yourself these questions: I realize that I will have to give up my possessions
at some point, how much time do I need before I will be ready to let go of them,
and let God fully into my heart? Will I become less when I let go of my possessions? Will "WHO I AM"
 become diminished by the loss?
Then Jesus said to His disciples,
"Therefore I say to you,
do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body,
what you will put on. Life is more than food,
and the body is more than clothing." (Luke 12:22,23)
Many people don't realize until they are on their death bed, and
everything external falls away that "NOTHING" ever had anything to do with who they are.
"Blessed are the poor in Spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven." (Matthew 5:3)
What does "poor" in Spirit mean? No inner baggage, no identifications.
Not with things nor with any mental concepts that have a sense of self in them.
The absurdity of owning something becomes even more apparent in the case of land.
In the days of the white settlement, the natives of North America found
ownership of land an incomprehensible concept, it was God’s land.
And so they lost it when the Europeans made them sign pieces of paper that were
equally incomprehensible to them. The Cherokee Indians (Now called Tsalagi) teach
"The happy child always has something to share-toys, smiles,
insight. Even in the poorest Tribal household there is always
enough in the pot to feed a guest. We are most joyful when
we share with one another, possessions can be poison.
"THE HAPPY HEART GIVES AWAY THE BEST"
if the heart knows not how to share-then that heart is closed
off from receiving, and closes off the free flow of others giving.
The fire of mind grows dim with selfishness, but grows bright stirred by the
 Winds of Generosity."
How do you let go of attachment to things? Don't even try. It's impossible.
Attachment to things drops away by itself when you can no longer seek
to find yourself in them. The ego (Satan) identifies with having
but its satisfaction in having is a relatively shallow and short-lived one.
There is another more powerful drive underneath "Having" that pertains to
the structure of Satan in us: The need for more. Which we call "Wanting"
Satan cannot last for long without the need for more.
Wanting keeps Satan alive much more than having.
Satan in some of us, knows what he wants, and pursues his aim with grim
and ruthless determination-Genghis Khan, Stalin, Hitler, to give just a few
larger-than-life examples. The physical need for food, water, shelter, clothing,
and basic comforts could be easily met for all humans on this planet,
were it not for the imbalance of resources created by the insane and rapacious need for more.
"The greed of Satan (Possessions) must be extracted in agony and blood,
like a tooth from the jaw. He must be expelled from our
heart and soul before God can truly find a home there."
"Now all who believed were together, and had all
things in common, and sold their Possessions
and Goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need."
 (Acts 2:44-45)

“Hope deferred makes the heart sick.
But a dream fulfilled is a tree of life.”Proverbs 13:12
